Charvel fans: Need help identifying one!

Hello. I didn't know where to post something like this, so here it is...

I came upon a Charvel bass in a pawn shop. Now, I live in Peru and a) pawnshops are rare

b) Finding a Charvel in a pawnshop is even rarer.

Now, I played it and it sounded decently, but what I really liked was the feel of the neck. It's really battered and the electronics need serious work, but it seemed fine. However, I wanted to make sure I was buying the real deal so I come to you guys

I don't know what model it is since I'm relatively new to Charvel basses, but it has a split pickup and a J-style bridge pickup (both passive) Also, the headstock features the logo similar to the Jackson one and the tuning knobs are 2 a side.

Maple neck, rosewood (or similar) fretboard, 21 frets.

Also, I took note of the serial: C 109754

Any quick info about the possible origin/identity of the bass would be greatly appreciated, as I'm considering buying it asap, as I'm in need of a fretted 4 string.

Since I am the resident Charvel/Jackson guru around here, I replied in the other thread, it "looks" like a 91 LS-1, but I cant be sure with the fuzzy pic and I know the LS-1 came with 2 soapbars.

what I can tell you is if it was a Jackson branded bass, it would be a EL-1 like you describe with the p/j, however I know that Charvel did a lot of non-USA exports that never made it to any catalogs, so it "could" be a Charvel LS-1 ( whatever their name was for the same thing as a Jackson EL-1. The serial says 1991, MIJ like the rest fo the stuff back then, but that's all I know about it.

Thanks a bunch, man, it does look like it, only with the Charvel logo. Also, the edge of the fretboard kinda hangs over the body. ie there's a space between the body and the fretboard at the joint. Is that normal?

How about the series? Is it a low-end one? It's going for around $110ish but with the amount of work it'd require I'm not sure.

oh ya quite normal for many necks that have a t-rod adj at the top.

yep as longs as you plug it in and it plays. I never had an EL1, and I know your situation is different, but to me... if it plays and it's cheap -- give it a chance no matter what's on the head.

the show me your Charvels" thread has lots of pics, but yours is the first EL1 I ever saw except in pictures ( or whatever they called it )

my best example was the Jackson tbird MIJ, with the Jackson logo and called TBX, however Charvel made their version with their logo and it had no official "name". back then Jackson was pushing Charvel and Jackson out of the same MIJ factory just some units were for sale everywhere and some were not.
