Cheap Neck

Im looking for a cheap neck (preferably under 100USD), for my bass (worst case scenario the neck is too screwed up as is). Thanks!

All are WELL under $100. Ive never tried either eBay source, but hey... tuners and a neck for $30?! The ones from Rondo Music, however, are good quality for that price, although the maple/maple necks don't have a finish.

a neck generally isn't the greatest place to cheap out, but the one from rondo is probably your best bet

I would try one from rondo, but you will have most likely have to do a fret job on it.

I've purchased 2 from Rondo in the past (both maple). They WILL need a fret job (unless you want to slice open your thumb, like I did) and probably finishing. I know the maple ones are "naked" (without any finish or sealer), and I believe that the rosewood ones have nothing more than a sealing coat. A good, smooth sanding couldn't hurt either.

I don't see how anybody could build a quality neck for 40 bucks. I've been in business for a long time and just trying to do the math.

Perhaps it should be said like this:
The necks from Rondo Music are going to have the most quality you can get for $40.

You've got to remember, though, that these necks may or may not have a finish, fret work, and/or final sanding -- something that Mighty Mite necks, which will cost about $30 more, have. So by eliminating the those steps, the necks at Rondo can be sold at such a small price. Not to mention, those necks are being mass produced somewhere in China, so there's no telling what kind of quality control -- wood quality, glue quality, craftsmanship, etc. -- if any, is employed.

Between Rondo and Mighty Mite, I prefer the Rondo necks because I can modify them without much prep work or guilt. I'd rather ruin a $40 neck than a $100+ one. Plus, I'm not a fan of the Fender headstock shape. HOWEVER, if you want a good neck, that's gone through quality controls, approved by Fender, made to Fender's specs, and is ready to go on your bass, I'd go with Mighty Mite.

But you can't go too wrong for $40.
