i bought this thing from cash convertors for 200 AU bucks, i think i got ripped as new they are worth about 250..lol, its a samick Greg Bennet Fairlane, its noisey, the nobs dont do much, has high action, a 2 piece neck, the whole thing i think is made in china....but it sounds good and for some reason i love it...and its a good backup guitar too

cheapest crappy bass that you have loved?

My washburn T-12 with an extra jazz pickup made in it(T-14style?). Has a very nice sound and feeling, i made the action much better then it was before. Bought it new forEUR270 including amp, bag(worst bag ever) and tuner
My 1987(ish) BC Rich Platinum Warlock. Its kinda pink, kinda purple, and has a weird crack in the body that grows ever so slowly, but the crack is under the paint and the paint isn't broken...odd. It sounds...uh, like no other bass I've heard, lets say I dont need to add any overdrive. But it feels and plays far nicer than it has any right too. Paid $100 for it 18 years ago.
I had a 1960s Kimberly Beatle bass in AQUA with an F-hole that looked and sounded great. It cost me $110. I gigged with it for a number of years and ultimately used it as trade fodder. Still miss it sometimes.
Peavey FURY. Actually really miss it Had a Badasss II and Quarter Pounders. I look for it on EBay every now and then cause I miss it.
i have 2 olp spectors that i bought used for about $100 each. cheap yes, crappy no, and i love them! i actually get torn between playing those or my fender jazz basses

For $90 I bought a 4 string SX P/J that I absolutely loved everything about. I only sold it when I switched the fivers full-time. Right now I have a defretted Washburn T-25 that I picked up here on TB that feels really good. It's not worth selling, so it will probably get some mods/upgrades.
I am a big booster for budget/el-cheapos.
I have had some really bad cheap basses over the years, especially back in the 80s and 90s before CNCs, QC, decent specs, internet word-of-mouth and other variables caused there to be a flood of good, inexpensive instruments which are fairly consistent in quality. Of course, I've also had some really bad expensive and vintage basses too.
But there have also been some gems. My first real bass was a MIJ Squier made in '82 or '83. It was absolutely killer. I've had many truly fine Squiers.
I also owned a Tokai P-bass that I paid $70 for in the mid-80s. One of the best P basses I've ever played.
More recently, I scored an SX P a few years back that still impresses me with its out of the box quality and playability. Yes it has some cheaper components, but it is fully functional, well set-up and finished and I love both the sound of the stock pickup and the neck.
For a brief time I owned a Jay Turser JTB-401 (copy of a 1954 P-bass with SC pickup.) Very nice bass. Again, some cheap parts, but it was a blast to play and it sounded great.
The SX was $125 shipped and the Turser was $90. Both were worth far more IMO.
