I have a Behringer VT911 that I resurrected from my box of guitar junk and after a few forum mod visits, replaced the 12ax7 tube with a 12au7 tube....wow, what a difference!! Sounds better with the bass than with the guitar. The mod lowers the gain and now I can get a good overdrive sound from it. There's other mods that can be done but this worked for me. If I remember correctly, I think I got it for a mere $25 on eBay.
I've heard the exact opposite. I heard some positive feedback on the danelectro transparent overdrive. they say they sounded phenomenal on bass. and so does the cool cat cc-1 chorus pedal.
Plus I've heard some bad things about behringer. a friend of mine told me that behringer must be german for broken. now I'm not saying this to bash behringer in any way. it's just that I kept hearing that behringer isn't really reliable. I always thought that behringers is more suitable for beginners.
