will you pad the EUB with a towel or something, or are you not concerned about friction with the cylinder?

I have a canvas case that will go over the bass. A blanket will work, or some sort of styrofoam apparatus for extra protection.

Makes sense. You should be able to buy end caps at Home Depot or Lowe's, along with some black primer, and adding a strap should be pretty easy. For under $20, you can even make it pretty AND functional.

Good find. Recyclable for a fee around my town, it's rare find anymore. My kids used this type of travel case to run their Hotwheels cars through it. When this travel case falls on your leg, you won't miss it. This travel case also works perfectly as a vocal loudspeaker, especially when put close to parent's ear.
Our travel case was a bit on heavyish side though. In fact, I would probably cross off the word 'travel' from its description.

I'm thinking about how I can reinforce it to make it more roadworthy. Also thinking about some wheel's on the bottom, like a golf cart.

Bass buggy? Or too bulky?
Castors might be enough, but it depends on what kind of surfaces you expect to drag it over.
