Double Bass checking out a used amp

found a used eden combo on craigslist. I'm going to check it out tomorrow. It's been 20+ years since I bought an amp and I've never bought used. So here are the questions:

What should I look for?
What should I look out for?
How do I kick the tires?

Went ahead, looked at the amp. NC200. From '93. Sounded good. Made lots of sound. It'll be a few days before I get to plug in my NS Upright or try my upright with a pickup or mic. Payed 225. I hope my search for an amp is over.

Most of the gear I own is used. My amps and cabinets that I use all the time are "second hand". It sure cost less, and so far I've had very good luck. Warranties are nice but most of them run out after a couple of years.

+1. My main amp is a '97 Walter Woods that I am the 2nd owner of. It's as good as new as far as I'm concerned.

Most of my gear is used. Not having the warranty isn't a huge deal, if you're buying quality gear and you take care of it, you probably won't need it anyways. Edens are solid. Great sounding and well built.

+1 about used gear.

One thing that can be useful is that the owners manuals and specifications for a lot of amps are now available online. It's always best to get your specs directly from the amp maker, because even the most honest seller can get themselves confused about specs.

It might be worth playing around with the orientation of the Nemesis. It might be better behaved in bad rooms when it is standing on its side so the speakers are one above the other.

Gear in general today is more reliable than ever before.
I like warranties and the piece of mind but I rarely ever actually use them.

I had one of those Nemesis 210 combos - worked it hard for 5 or 6 years and loved it. Does yours have the heat sink on the back? If not, it's one of the earlier ones that were known to get a bit hot at times. Otherwise, you'll find it totally indestructible. I found mine to have quite a neutral tone and very extended lows. You'll probably need to roll off a bit of bass if you're using it with upright. The preamp/DI works nicely for live recording.
