Pulled the for sale ad for my Stingray 5.

You clean up the bass, take pictures, post the ad, then play it for the last time.

:(

I was getting that anxiety again. My mind and heart telling me it was a bad idea to sell.

I was GAS'ing for my OWN bass!!!:help:

:hmm:

Ernie Ball doesn't sell stock preamps or pickups to the public.
Guess I'll just have to keep an eye out for a stock preamp. :(

Either that or give stainless strings a shot.
I'm getting the low end growl, and super high end ZING....but the upper mids are flat. :o

i don't buy much gear, only things i think are really important so i never really have sold anything. (same MTD bass for 8 years!) but i did sell my first squire pbass. i really wish i still had it. luckily i sold it to a freind so i know i can get it back if i really want to.

I totally feel the magic, but I hear no magic.

Actually, to be sure....I set up an alternate amp rig......my non-gig rig. And it sounded much much much better. I'm thinking my gig rig is just really dark....thus my preference for brighter basses (single coils)

I've always wished I could be like you. :D

...but sadly, in my area....it's impossible to get bass gear around here. So sometimes I buy before I try. I combination with that, my Stingray has the SD pickups and preamp. So I'm not even sure what a stock Stingray sounds like!:crying:

well just cause i have had the same bass for 8 years doesn't mean i don't gas HARD for a ken smith or a few others i can't afford! but i was lucky with the MTD, it just plays so good & feels so right in my hands. no other bass has felt so perfect. the smiths i have played are close but i really like the wide spacings of the mtd.

Why not sell your rig for a new one then?

Just trying to help. ;)

Actually, I think he's onto something.

if the Stingray is your #1 bass and you cannot make yourself part with it, why NOT sell your existing rig and get a rig that really lets your bass shine through?

Better to chicken out then sell the bass and 5 minuts later you get that sick feeling in your stomach and realize you just made a mistake so you spend months trying to get it back.
I am in that situation :(

Yeah, I've done this in the past.....so if I feel that feeling coming on....I closed all for sale threads and pull the bass right away.

Although, with a SR5....I doubt it would be too hard to find another. :)
