Chris Squire 'Run Through the Light'

I was revisiting the Yes album 'Drama' recently. I used to listen to it on a loop back in the day. I think the album is a masterclass in bass guitar; really superb.
Anyway I love the fretless work in 'Run through the Light'. Whatever bass and soundchain that is sounds great. It made the hair on my back stand up.

Now im finding out that Trevor Horn played bass on that song and Chris played piano/keys.

This is based on the demo "Dancing Through The Light" that was recorded with Jon Anderson during the aborted Paris recording sessions of 1978 following the Tormato album.

This is the only Yes song with bass guitar on it that was not played by Chris Squire. Trevor Horn played the bass and Squire played piano.

The single edit of this song almost completely removed Steve Howe's guitar work except for the underlying acoustic part.

Yes! Trevor is a great bass player. If you haven’t heard them you should check out the 2 Buggles albums.
Seriously great progressive pop.

fwiw I find "Does It Really Happen?" and "Into The Lens" to be the two strongest and most engaging songs on the album (although Squire's bass solo at the end of the former is pretty lame) but the real takeaway is that "Run Through The Light" is the weakest tune on Drama !

Well, the first half of "White Car" is killer, I love that instrumental motet, especially the delicate interplay between Howe's nylon-string guitar and Downes' Fairlight faux orchestra. The second half, once the vocals enter, sucks ass ...but, since the two halves cancel each other out, the net gain is 0, whereas "Run Through The Light" is just weaksauce start-to-finish, yielding a net negative.

After Relayer Tales is my second favorite album. The last really good Yes album for me is Tormato. After that it went down hill. 90125 has a few good moments though.

I'd invite you to check out their Talk album. The best of the Rabin-era Yes for sure.

just checked Talk. Unfortunately I don’t like it. 90125 is pretty decent but I am not much into the Trevor Rabin Yes. I highly prefer Steve Howe as a guitar player over Rabin.
