I watched the Elvis Costello music interview Spectacle on Netflix -- the episode with Diana Krall
and I love her piano work, but Christian McBride on bass was so utterly tasty and effortless, he just enables so much of what she can do -- and there was nebver a hint of him showing off -- everything he did was in service to the song.
Brilliant -- highly recommended

I stumbled across him when he showed up on Sting's All This Time DVD back in 2001. I kept wondering who the upright player was. I was watching Roxanne and about wet myself when they decided to swing it. My wife was unimpressed with me cheering in our living room holding a lighter over my head. One of those little musical surprises that you never see coming.
