Double Bass Christmas concert decorations

My community orchestra has a Christmas concert in their concert series and we tend to go a little crazy for the second half - Christmas hats, Christmas lights on our stands, etc. For the past few years, I have added some battery operated lights to my scroll. I don’t attach them in Amy way, only use the wire to hold the battery pack stable.
This year I am hoping to expand on lighting my instrument and have a string of lights outlining the shape of my bass. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to attach the lights temporarily without damaging the finish of my bass?

Maybe the same putty that folks use to attach contact mics? A few dabs at strategic points around body?

depending on vintage/finish of bass; any newer bass or finish I good condition... Blu Tack (putty), or yellow Frog Tape (light duty for delicate surfaces)

I think I'd try some painters tape and stick it to my shirt first to remove some of that adhesive. One inch squares strategically place.
