Christmas Program rant thread

Oh man- I've certainly been THERE a few times. Worse yet is when no one has the sense/nerve to stop the madness, & its *awkward moment* time..

Right. The drummer and I were both of the same mindset that it shouldn't go on, and when the MD asked us (before going into the meeting with the daughters, their father, and the Reverend), we gave her our thoughts.

I'm wondering how much the father had to do with keeping the original song in the program, because we (drummer and I) got the feeling that he was really pushing. And while I appreciate that you want to support your kids and allow them every chance of success, there are those times when they need to fail so you can help them learn from that and move on.

There's also the *blinded by pride papa* syndrome- parents so often see their offspring as the cute, little toddlers they once were, well into awkward teen/pre-teen years. I feel bad for everyone at those times.
Contrastingly & in addition to the whole thing going pretty smoothly was the fact that I decided to pull out my Stambaugh 6. Had gone 4-string 99% of the last few yrs, so it was NTMBD(new to me bass day). :D Was very pleased w/the tone, and will probably use it a lot more.
