Church IEM mix - Live Audio

Hey everyone. Occasionally I play at my church here in the greater Austin area and thought I'd put up our service from this past Sunday. This is our keys 1/MD's mix but he is always posting these 'behind the scenes/band perspective' mixes so he tries to get everything fairly balanced to make it somewhat enjoyable to listen to. I don't know half of the gear we have but it's all first class stuff and we have tons of flexibility when dialing in our mixes. I used my Lakland DJ5 through my Sadowsky pre that goes into an Avalon preamp that provides the house mix. For a little stage rumble we have a TC Electronics RH450 and a matching TC 2X10 cab. Everything starts at the beginning and goes until about the 16:10 mark where we transition in the service. Enjoy!

ugh.. Those "voice" cues would drive me nuts!! Are those pre-programmed on backing trax ??
I might have to lose those in my mix!! :)
Nice bass work BTW.. I play some of those songs at church too
wish our sound guys could get my bass that "tight" and clear.. I usually have to deal with a fair amount of "mud" in my Aviom mix..

It looks like the keyboard player mentioned in the opening post was doing the voice cues.

Does your system have tone controls? If so try dialing back the lows in all the channels except your bass.

Oh yeah.. we use both the Behringer PM16 in one worship center and Avioms in the other 2 (big church). There's some EQ control there... but garbage in and all that.

Possibly.. the FOH guy used to work for Eric Clapton and other top tier artists.. I'll ask him where the taps for the Avioms are coming off the Yammy M7CL. For the Behringer PM series (via CAT5 directly off the console) the default routing config is PRE-FADER, PRE-EQ.

EDIT: Changed POST-EQ to PRE-EQ !!

That’s one of the main reasons I stopped playing in praise bands. Hate to say it, but IMHO it’s true.

Hmm, I thought that was a console thing, not something with the PM? I could very well be wrong about that – I have minimal experience with digital consoles. The last church I was at had the Midas M32 and it was pre-set like that, but I believe they were able to get it changed to pre fade / pre EQ.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

@Gatlin.....keep working at it and it will come. Surround yourself with better players than you and keep it fun. I still have tons to learn and there are plenty of our fellow TB’ers who blow me away.

For our IEM mix, we use the LiveMix 24 channel personnel mixer. They’re pretty cool. The have an adjustable HPF, 3 band EQ, compression, the ability to pan and plenty of storage so everyone can save their personal mixes. We have about 3-4 bass players that cycle through so it’s good to have a constant starting point whenever I come on to play.
