Circle K strings...

Just put these on a few hours ago. Band rehearsal is tomorrow, but unless they somehow sound different out of my big rig than my practice setup, Im a customer for life.

1st off, the customer service is the best I've ever received in pretty much any industry, period. On the previous page of this thread I posted a question making sure I had ordered the right guages (I was pretty confident, but still). Anyway, about an hour after my post I get a phone call. Its the dude from Circle K, and he wants to talk to me to make sure I'm gettin the right guages, cuz hes about to ship my order out...how did he even figure out which order I was talkin about? Thats incredible...most people would just put the stuff in the box and be done with it.

Super comfortable...even more so than my DR's. Dont chew my fingers (or stain them) at all.

Real flexible, and maybe related LOUD. I actually played for good long while without even plugging my bass in.

Tomorrow is the real test, but the first impression is fantastic.

+1 to everything you said. Mine got less zingy after say 60 hours of use. I only need more as I got a new bass but I am waiting for some merch (i am a cheapskate on shipping) The DR neons will suffice on my new Warwick for now.

The flexibility while retaining pitch to me is friggin' magic. After years of having to suffer through what now I refer to as tempered steel of DR's and their "feel" these are godsend. I tune a step down from Drop D (drop C) and even then the strings all the way up the neck are "bendy" and useful as if they were in standard tuning. Just awesome.
Can't wait to put my new set of .118's on the new bass!

Jaws dropped at practice today...the improvement over my Fatbeams was readily apparent...even to the drummer!

When I order my next set I think im gonna go up even heavier in guage :)

Regarding price...for me, theyre cheaper than the DRs. I had to buy a 5 string set (and then throw out the g string). With these, Im not paying for a string Im not using.

Suffice it to say, Im a happy camper.

I have a BEAD set (Balanced Standard 130) on one of my basses now. Wow, so nice and resonant down to the low B.

I want to order a BS4-100 set however, it still wants to charge sales tax because I live in CO... but you guys are in Washington now correct?

I believe they are wound and distributed from two different places.

So you're using Super Slinky 40 60 75 95 125 for drop B and drop C tunings? By 'drop' you mean BF#BEA and CGCFBb? Are you using the largest 4 gauges on a 4 string bass BF#BE and CGCF?

You want more slinkyness ... so less tension? I'm guessing the 125 is not too tight for you, it's the higher strings that are too tight ...

Assuming you use 60 75 95 125 for BF#BE and CGCF I can see why the high 3 strings are tight. Also a 125 is actually at a low tension at B and C, you might like to tighten that up a little?

So on the assumption above I would suggest ...

4 String Set - Drop Tune Standard 130
.130 .088 .064 .046

This will tighten the lowest string slightly and significantly reduce the tension of the 3 top strings.

It may happen ... i hope. There is a knuckle EUB coming ...

I'm interested in the potential for touchguitars with ultra long scale, for a clearer tone, and to compensate for the loss of scale length due to using a string damper. With a touchguitar the hands only need to reach the frets, and not down to pluck near the bridge, so there's potential to shift the bridge out of reach and significantly increase the scale.

Touchguitars already have an amazing rich, clear tone. Combining that with ultra long scale would be mind-blowing.

Had a balanced .142 6 string set sitting around, and a .124 dropped set and decided to string up my Bongo 6 and used the .124 from the Drop tuned set for ACGCFA# tuning, could've used the whole set and added the .142 and .31 but decided to try this out, loving it so far though might get a .118 for the low C.

But man I remember why I love these strings..
