I've been given a kit semi-acoustic bass I'm putting together on a budget, and its time to think about wiring. Being a kit, it has holes already drilled for a switch and 4 pots (plus the socket) so unless I mess around with scratch plates that's what it has to have. Its going to have two pickups, a vintage humbucker in pretty much the Precision location, and a single coil up at the neck in mudbucker territory. I see the bridge pickup as being the main one, the other is going to be semi cosmetic possibly...
My own preference is to be simple - my JB has two vol and a phase switch. I don't much like the idea of a pickup selector switch - I've never found a need for one on the JB.
So I'm scouting for ideas to think about. My first thought is Vol/Vol/Master low pass tone, plus a phase switch and a high pass tone on the neck pickup to play with the pickup interaction esp out of phase. What else might be worth considering bearing in mind the constraints?
