Here's how I did my videos.
I imported the audio from the CD or the MP3 they gave me into my Cubase recording software. I armed a new track just for my bass. Then I would hit record on my Sony HDR-CX550 camera and record on Cubase. This would play the audio I'm supposed to play bass to, record my bass track, and record video of my performance.
After I liked what I got I just exported my video to a folder, and exported the two audio tracks separately to the video folder. I then opened Sony Vegas video editing. Drag the video and the two audio tracks over (my bass track and the cirque audio track) and from there you can mix the audio and video the way you want.
You'll have to manually move the video and audio to sync up but the visual of the wave forms is easy to to that. Since the Sony camera records the room audio separate from the video track you can compare what you recorded in your DAW to what you recorded on your camera and just line the two up. Mute the room mic from the camera leaving only the two tracks from Cubase and you've got a really great sounding video.
I also recorded a couple of videos via just the room sound (ex. Ants from Ovo).
So that's how I did it. You can mix the audio in Cubase if you want. But what I did was just leave the original audio track at 0db and boosted my bass track up so that it was just out of the mix.
I wish I would have mixed it differently because you can't really hear the bass on laptops with crumby speakers. I can hear it great at work cause my speakers have sub woofers.
But that's the long explanation on how I mixed it and recorded it.
