I've never owned a Carvin--thogh I am a bit intereted in the SB500. I do own a Cirrus (shameless plug, it's listed for sale here). The feel of the Cirrus is unmatched. It is a neck-through and feels like the most solid, well constructed, comfortable bass ever. The tone is very clean. There is no grind, growl, mud--none of that. A clean tone that's similar to the tone of Ken Smith's.

I would like to say thanks for all the feed back, but please keep it coming.

Also I currently play and have been play for the last 10 a Peavey Cirrus 6 USA and this is a top notch bass and my favorite bass. I would like to pick up another one but they are not being made anymore. I have spoke to Peavey about it and they do not know if they will make them again due to the economy. This is the best bass they have ever made! Hate to see that happen. However Carvin has a custom shop and what I have ready have nice basses. I am interested in the ICON 6 but they are on the west coast and I am on the east coast and can not get my hands on one to test out. I have listen to the clip and like what I hear, I want to have one in my hands to try out before I make that commentment.

I have tryed another Cirrus 6 made in 2007 but neck seems to be a little larger. Hoping to get your input.

Thanks

If resale is a consideration - no to the carvin.

.

Come on now...you can buy a new Peavey for $1500 today and be lucky to get $400 for it tomorrow. Resale value should not be mentioned with these two brands, or with G&L :)

Cool thing about Carvin is that you can choose whatever wood, color, fingerboard, hardware, etc. that you want.

My Peavey PWNS ALL! I love the way it feels and the way it sounds. If you're looking for a high end sounding bass ala Ken Smith, I'd suggest the Peavey. Very modern and punchy. However, I have yet to play the Carvin. I'd suggest playing both and telling us what you like.

The Cirrus line does not hold resale value well. Icons do as well or better IME.

I'd never suggest buying a new Cirrus.. there are way too many out there.. they're extremely consistent.

Actually I'd never suggest buying new basses... just about everything takes a hit once it's new.

The comment on resale of Carvin is I've had the toughest time even finding folk who'd consider them.

I've never had an issue with my Bunny bass -

If you want a new custom bass.. Carvin is kind of the only option you have without sending $$$$$
