Double Bass Clarinet and Double Bass Duo(s) by Bottesini

How many pieces by Bottesini have been written for clarinet and double bass? I have heard of his Duetto and his Gran Duo BUT on youtube they appear to be the same thing.
Is there a difference if I, say, ordered the music from Lemur fornthe Duetto and the Gran Duo?

And by the way, do you happen to know of any more chamber groups featuring winds (must include clarinet) and a double bass? I would love the Prokofiev Quintet but unfortunately our school system has no other string players affiliated with the band.

There's also a version of Richard Strauss' Till Eulenspeigel for violin, cello, bass, clarinet and horn. Look for "Till Eulenspeigel Einmal Anders!"

Well part of my problem is that it MUST qualify for Florida Bandmasters MPA Solo and Ensemble AND it cant involve cello.
Hence my extreme confusion. I like the Gould piece to listen to but I doubt it would qualify as a Grade 6 (which is what I need for state qualifications.)

There's a Bernstein piece for big band and clarinet soloist, it may be a bit intense for what you are describing, but it's a fantastic bass part. Anybody remember what that piece is called?

William Sydeman, Duo Concertante for B flat Clarinet (and Bass Clarinet) and Double Bass, Edition Peters 66073 (C.F.Peters, NY, 1967). Duration about 10 minutes, in 5 movements. It looks reasonably tough, in modern but not contemporary style.

I haven't played this. It has been in my library since 1968 and may have been one of Bertram Turetsky's many commissions in the 60s. He may know of more. Otherwise perhaps trawl sheet music websites and Lemur Music's catalogue?

Ok just realized something. Lemur's Gran Duo requires a Clarinet in A. Does the Duetto edited by Thomas Martin use a Bb Clarinet?

Ok I answered my question by calling lemur
Duetto is for Bb Clarinet and Bass and Piano
Gran Duo is for A Clarinet and Bass and Piano
Otherwise the exact same piece

And... just ran into another problem.
Contacted Thomas Martin and he said: "...tunes from the top Bb, F, C,... " and that there is no need for a low string on that particular piece. Anyone know anyway to accomplish this with a "standard" off-the-shelf string set that can also be used for orchestral tuning?

I just played the Duetto, and there are a few options for dealing with the extra-high scordatura:

I didn't want to play with solo strings at all, so a friend of mine transposed the clarinet and piano parts so the whole thing could be played in orchestra tuning; this does, however, require some creative re-writing of the clarinet part, as this puts the part of of range of the clarinet, either Bb or A. I can give you a copy of this solution if you like. If you do this, it works better for the clarinetist to play Bb clarinet, not A; the keys get too weird on A clarinet.

It's also possible simply to play this piece in regular solo tuning on A clarinet; if you listen to Martin's recording, this is how he does it. Plus, it only requires a transposition of the piano part. My clarinetist also told me that she would have preferred playing it this way.
