Classical pieces on bass?

There are many good transcriptions of six suites...my favourite is from Kalmus Classic editions.
i truly encourage you to try to read it...listen to it ....internalize it...these are increbible pieces....just by doing this your musicianship will rise considerably...this is a lifes work!!

IMO...Pablo Casals plays the best versions of these pieces

Nice, very cleanly played, what picking/muting combination did you use?

Playing it an octave lower is quite difficult to mute I find using the thumb/index and mid digits but I prefer it in that range plus the open string sonority available. I'll put up a version in the near future.

I did not see your reply.

The first few bars are muted then it switches over to fingerstyle. The muted part is all thumb and index. I will try to post a video if I can get a good shot of it.

When I was learning Motown stuff as a beginner, I liked the mute sound I got by using the thumb as much as possible. So the index works as an assistant to the thumb if that makes sense.

For the fingerstyle parts - I am a strict 3 finger player :hiding: and have been since the summer of 97...
