classified payment plan

My experiences here at TB have all been phenomenal. Virtually every piece of gear I have ever came from here. (I don't have as many feedbacks as transactions.)

Here's where I stand on the payment thing. You have to answer three questions.

1) Are you keeping the gear until it's paid off? Well, you already answered that.

2) Can you afford to be without all of the money for that predetermined time period? And there needs to be a trap door plan for his not paying up by the predetermined date....such as you return his money and the deal is off.

3) What's the guy's feedback like?

That's a cool bass you have for sale. Good luck with it.

Yeah I have had great experiences here also. I do not have a deal pending just something I'm considering offering since the classifieds seem to be very slow, been trying to sell the bass since September. I like your trap door idea. I can do without the cash for the 30 days. Thanks for your input!

To avoid tying it up for a month then having to crank the listing back up, make it a non refundable deal. That will weed out wishers and keep you from the hassle of having to do a refund. If the buyer has a legit unexpected personal hardship don't he a dick about it, but if it's just wishy washy buyers remorse hold their feet to the fire.

I mention this because i put a bass up for sale here and a guy contacted me and wanted it real bad but was not going to have the cash until the middle of the following month and would i hold it for him? I said sure no problem, but the agreed upon date came and went with no word from the buyer. I tried for a week to get a reply to my inquiries with no luck so i relisted the bass. Next day i got an email from the guy asking me to hold it for another month. Had he been up front i would have been happy to oblige, but after the disappearing act i told him to just concentrate on getting the money together if he wanted it.

I do custom work to order and i learned the hard way to not start a job without a 50% non refundable deposit.
