Clean Boost or Light Overdrive Suggestions

The best pedal I've used for this is the Grizzly, but it's on the expensive side.

There's also something to be said for the Holy Fire, which is a Grizzly with a high cut but no mid boost knob. I paid $90 for my used model, so it certainly can be affordable if you look.

Thanks for the tip, bro. Greg. I read about the mod, I think mine came with a different cap than the older ones from one I read. I didn't dig through the pages to see how to tell. Someone said you can tell from the outside and the info was in the mod thread. But yah, if it's the older value cap, I might give it a go. Pretty happy with it as it is now. Also I know I have a 18 or so volt wall wart somewhere to try. Too dang cold to even go out to the garage to look. I hoard them. Dug around at work and found a 12 V, so if the connector is right or I fell like messing with it, I might see what 30% more power supply voltage does.

Ah yeah I forgot about that, that way huge was going to look into changing that in their product line. That blows my mind kinda. A thread started on TB changed the sound of a pedal and maker that big. Pretty friggen cool.

the Grizzly mid knob only cuts, it doesn't boost. Dimed is flat. Same with the treble.

Mine was a sweetwater demo, so I need to verify the cap value, but I think they flush out their demos every December. So I was thinking about a year old and new cap. I get all the highs out that I care for.

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys. I think I'm going to try the spark booster out first since it's fairly cheap and readily available. This is a new world for me. I always wanted distortion or overdrive pedals. Then I got an amp that I liked haha.

As for an amp, Mesa D800... plus if you push the "Input " it has a hair of old school dirty. Adding an OD is just extra gravy

I've been playing around with some Pink Floyd and my 3BOD. Thought I'd share in case anyone was interested to hear how it sounds. You'll need headphones or actual speakers, laptop/cell phone speakers won't do it.

The bass is panned a little to the right, the Floyd track a little to the left. The bass is up a little in the mix so you can hear it a little better.

Of all i ever had - Moog MF Drive was good for clean boost and light-to-medium (and even nasty) overdrive. I have sold it because of bad financial situation. Quality/tone/price - just perfect. Its tone is very original. I have MF Boost - i did not like it. Very small headroom. Too big difference between it an MF Drive.

Does the new Fifth Gear (V2) hold up vs the old version? Have any of you compared?

I'm a bit late on this, but the V2 can get the exact sound of the V1. If you turn the heat knob completely off and volume all the way up you just have the gain knob which is the same control on the V1 . All of the components are identical, we just added some more control to V2.

The Tone Hammer does clean drive and light overdrive really well.
The muscular EQ section can be used to sculpt the exact flavor of OD you want. The pedal is also a great DI.
It's often overlooked because of its price and the fact that it's a DI but it's a great pedal.
