Cliff Burton Signature bass

I always wanted to own (still do) an Aria SB-1000, and I heard they are damn good basses; while they might not look like boutique instruments they are certainly built like them.
They aren't worth THAT much though.

My guess is the Cliff Burton model is cheaper so more Cliff fans can afford it.
The 'Cliff Burton Bass' pictured is different to the one at the top, it's not made in Japan and has a few noticable differences. It has a different pickup, cheaper bridge and tuners, and slightly different body shape. It seems the description is of the more expensive model though. SB1000 purists don't seem to like this model at all, at least not in comparison to the real thing.
The SB-CB (the $1200 model) isn't quite the same as the vintage SB-1000s or more recent SB-1000RIs. I would stay clear of that one and go for a vintage one for a lot less coin. I made my own 'Cliff Burton model', if you will... I got a relatively cheap SB-R60 (1982, made in Japan), put on black hardware, and put in an Alembic pickup/tone filter, and then recently a red LED battery indicator to give it an SB-1000 look. I know it's not like exactly the specs Cliff used, but I like it! I was lucky to find a used Alembic pickup cheap, otherwise it wouldn't have been possible... Here is the bass if anyone wants to check it out. And it was cheaper than $1200!

I also came upon a slightly used SB-1000CB (the Japanese version of the Cliff Burton model) for about $700 in Japan...so there are options to the Korean model. ALso, the "John Taylor model" (SB-1000JT) is the same as the CB but in natural finish. They are great basses but I wouldn't be able to buy them new, definitely try to find a used one!
