CLIPPING THE BOARD!!!!

I have a Ampeg 115HP and I have the db in the back turned all the way down and its still clipping the board! I've tried everything. I always balance out my volume and my gain as well. Can anyone help me?!?!?! My soundman always gets mad and I don't know what to do about it.

What "dB in the back"? I see a reference to the tweeter attenuator but that would have no effect on the DI signal. The DI signal is post input (duh!), gain, and EQ but pre master volume. What input are you using and how do you set your gain and EQ?

All is not lost!

I knew my soundman was cracked. He said the db controlled my gain. I told him it was for the horn and he stood there and argued with me forever!!! He almost got me to believe him.
Its at its worst during rehearsal. I balance my gain and volume levels about equal so its just loud enough to hear over my hard hitting drummer. So your saying i should adjust what again......? I've been a bass player for many years buy have never used such a hot amp. I just learned my other amp and knew what to set everything and got this one and everything went to hell.

Okay, now you have me not trusting your soundguy. Where does he have the PA mic channel trim set? If he's attenuating fully and you're still clipping the board, the trouble is on your end. You may find yourself rolling back the Ampeg's gain and compensating by boosting your master volume...within reason, of course. So as not to complicate issues, use the "0" input and flat EQ settings as a starting point.

+1. A high quality board will have a -20dB input pad to handle line level inputs, as well as an input gain pot. he's got to be a total noob if he thinks a control on the cab affects the DI level.

Why are you in the PA at rehearsal?
