While lurking in thread "People with join dates 2002 or older" I read this:
I'm sure Marlat didn't mean it as a criticism of anyone but it made me think. Am I part of a clique here? If so how did that happen? If I am a member of a clique it is not intentional but probably an outcome of my frequent posts.
I always thought of cliques as bad things so I looked up the word and found this in Wikipedia :
In the social sciences, a clique a group of "persons who interact with each other more regularly and intensely than others in the same setting."[1] Interacting with cliques is part of normative social development regardless of gender, ethnicity, or popularity. Although cliques are most commonly studied during adolescence and middle childhood, they exist in all age groups.
That seems okay to me. I always thought a clique was a group that excluded other people but that doesn't sound like it. The last thing I would want to do is make someone else feel like an outsider. I have been here less than two years myself and am just another person who likes talking to people. If you are new here or somehow feel like an outsider, Don't. Everyone is welcome here. Trust me, if people accept me here they will except anyone.
Thanks my friends for giving me the space to be myself here.
Like Marlat said cliques rise and fall here and that day will come for us all.
One thing I like about having been around this place a long time, other than seeing JT's evolving shirt collection and hair, is watching the cliques in TB OT rise and fall. There have defintely been distinct "era's" in the who's who of TB OT.
