Cloth or Poly Wire?

Teflon can be wire stripper resistant! In that case, I'll strip it with a sharp utility knife. I just drag it around the wire until I feel it start to scratch the conductor. Then I rip it off with a finger nail. In the years I've been doing it, I've only lost a strand or 2.

I stripped Teflon wire every day for years at work building voltage multipliers, (not on guitars), a good stripper like the one Hopkins pictured works fine, it's harder to do than silicone, or vinyl, but its not crazy hard to strip really. The best thing about Teflon wire for guitars is that it melts and it burns at higher temps than what you need to solder well at, so it's more forgiving if you hit it with the iron, or stay on a wire too long, vinyl will melt, or burn if you're not careful with it.
