Club Cort - Take 2

Hi,
I'm a beginner bass player and I just bought the Cort C5H.
I read many good reviews about this guitar, however, I don't seem to manage to get a really good sounding bass from it and I tried to use different sound settings using the buttons on the guitar.
When I turn the on/off switch on, the sounds gets even worse (muddy and boomy).
In addition, half of the neck is suffering from fret buzz.

Can someone please shed some light and help me get the sound this guitar is supposed to provide?

Thanks!

Do you have another bass that sounds good to you?
What amp are you playing through?
What part of the neck buzzes? (near the nut or the pick-ups)
If your amp sounds Boomy already then it will only get worst going active

Hi,
My amp is Roland Cube 30 Bass and it's a good amp. I know because my band's bass player used it with his Fender Jazz Bass and there where no weird sound issues.
The fret buzz is on the half part that is on the bridge side.

I think that amp has good reviews but I don't know much about small amps.
Based on what you say about the buzz, it looks like the string height is too low, it's not unusual to need to set up a new Bass.

I played a GB5 Custom in a store last week. Very nice bass, I was pleasantly surprised. The only thing I wasn't wild about was the super flat fret board radius - 15 3/4, but the more I played it the better it felt.

Got the same bass GB5 Custom and I really can agree on the flat fret board. But over the couple of months I've owned it, I just love it, the more I play it. The voices you can get are real nice from the Basslines.

Just bought my first bass, a Cort Action DLX so please sign me up. I've posted a few details in a thread on older starting players in the welcome section.

Now that I have my bass which strap locks fit the Cort out of the box? I bought a set of Warwicks but the screws are to small and the original screws wont fit.

Dave

hey guys. i am the proud owner of a 2008 cort artisan c4, and i LOVE it! it is everything you need: nice natural tone, and probably the most comfortable bass i have ever played! Also in my opinion in this colour one of the nicest basses I’ve ever seen aswell.

If you find one, I highly recommend getting one it is a rockin’ bass for the price! Good for beginners and pros alike.

I would love to be a member of the cort club. Please provide a number for me!

can't help you with the Club, it seems to have necro'd, but I'm a Cort fan (got 2 so far) and really like the rustic look of your C4. how's the passive vs active sounds? is this review accurate in your opinion?

My bass doesn’t switch between active and passive. Instead I have a 2 step switch for mid frequency, basically swaps between low mids and of hi mids
The pickup balance is great, and with the bass boost/cut, treble boost/cut and mid frequency switch u can find a plethora of various tones. Very very good bass.
If u have a good amp, it will run really really well. I have owned mine for about 6 months already and haven’t had any problems with it. And once it’s broken in it’s so comfortabel to play u don’t want to stop it’s satisfying.

Yah review is pretty similar

I’m telling you now, if ur looking at getting one, whether c, b or a series, it’ll be a good buy, it’s a great value bass.

My recommendations don’t go for any artisan models older than 2010.
