Just keep in mind the controls, neck pocket, and pickup routes are not yet cut in that image, so there's even less wood in the body when he's done.

Roger's stated before that, while there is a tonal aspect to his chambering, the primary goal was weight reduction.

Hey guys. I need some help. I just got my old UV70 back and I plugged it in and the preamp output is about 20% quieter maxed out than in passive mode. I also noticed the blend is backwards (clockwise goes to neck instead of bridge). Could a dead/dying battery cause the decrease in volume? I don't care about the blend unless it could be the cause of less output, but I am concerned. The bass still sounds beastly in passive mode, but it's missing that Sadowsky mojo in active mode.

Sadly, I don't have a spare 9V lying around either.... Ugh! Help!!!! Haha

So funny, I owned that bass twice too didn't I??? It's amazing, only reason I don't till have it is preferring 60s spacing. That's one of the all time best basses I've had.

:p Well, I would suggest you find a battery! I would hope that would not be a major deal for you.

All Sadowsky blend knobs are wired that way. Takes about a minute to get used to it. However, if you want the more standard direction/operation, it is as simple as switching two wires around on that pot.

Ken, what he means is that his balance pot is wired wrong, not the Sadowsky way ;)

Ah, well I know of a couple Sadowsky players who immediately change that wiring so it matched their other basses, and I also understand the shop will also do that for a new instrument if asked. The point is, easy to change for the OP if he wants it the other way, and a battery change should take care of the preamp (most likely).

Yeah, it's an easy thing to change, but those players are wrong anyway. :eyebrow:

AND I'm mature, 6', 225 pounds, tattoos, earrings in both ears, ride a Harley V-Rod and bald......
So there :spit:

(Actually all that means is im old, a little taller than average, over weight, losing my hair and having a mid life crisis which equates to trying desperately to hang on to what little youth I have left) :D

Thanks guys. I can deal with the blend pot. Doesn't bother me. I did play the bass more last night and realized it is for sure a dead battery. At least I know that for lunch I'm gonna go pick up a couple. At first, the signal was just really weak, but the more I played it, the weaker the signal got and started distorting horribly. Whew!!!

Now I just gotta get the blue nickels on it. It has the blue SS, but this bass truly sings with nickels. Off to the Sadowsky store too!!!!

PS- I used to protect the president... Sooooo.... How bout dem body guard skills? Lol
