CN212 Details

Both ports measure 6.5" x 6.5" with the hypotenuse at 9.75".

One port is upper left the other lower right. Its pretty much the only way they can fit with the ports located where they are and given the cab width.

THANK YOU BOTH!

Whew! Felt like I was pulling teeth for a while there!!

Much to the chagrin of some, I will post my results when completed.

Anyone interested in photos and build details?

Thinking that because a driver is based on the DeltaLite 2512 metal work, it will perform the same as an actual DeltaLite 2512 is just preposterous. There as so many important variables that can be changed that affect performance that it's just an absurd statement.

As an example of this, the JBL D/K/E-130 and 140 series are based on identical metalwork but couldn't have more different performance. Same for the EVM-15L versus 15B.

It would be helpful for opinions to be based on more factual information.

I don;t even know where to begin! You've missed the point entirely! I just wanted the port dimensions!! I wasn't asking anything else (ignoring the drivers' positions being offset).

I can't afford the CN212. So, I'm building (have built) my own version, using the Eminence DeltaLite II driver (which I already have, and like).

It's a great sounding cab too! A bit deeper sounding than I want. But EQ corrects that easily. It's nice to have a conversation about gear - something I always like to discuss. But it would be more fun if the assumptions were made into questions, and the judgements made into suggestions.

I enjoy wood-working (though I'll admit I'm not terribly good at it yet)... I enjoy creating... And, while my hands last, I'll continue to design and build wooden things (cabs, guitars, boats, etc).

Here's a look at what you "nay-sayers" claim was a bad idea:

A big THANK YOU to the rest of y'alls for helping a guy out!

Ironically, it's only an experiment. I'll use this experiment for my next 2x12 cab, and may even share that one as well! ;-)

No sir, I didn't miss the point. The driver parameters, box volume and port dimensions all interact to determine the performance of the speaker as a system. Using a different driver (a Deltalite basket with different soft parts IS a different driver) will require a different port area and length than whatever the original box used because the original box volume and porting was designed for a different driver.

Yes, thanks. I'm aware of the details.

However, I asked a simple question. Instead of a simple answer, I received a lecture from several "know-it-all" types making some very large assumptions regarding what I know or don't know. It's quite like asking what time it was, and being told how the watch was built. :eyebrow:

I have (and used) the DeltaLite II parameters (as previously mentioned), and have an understanding of how to plug them into the speaker design software, and how to adjust the box design to fit my (and the driver) needs. And, for the record, my cab ports ARE different than the CN212. This cab is tuned to the DeltaLite II drivers, and worked out pretty well too, if I do say so myself.
