Cobalt flats vs. Fender 9050

I am wondering what the differences are between the EB Slinky Cobalt Flatwounds and the Fender 9050.

I wanted flats that wouldn't subdue all the growl from my Jazz. As per TB's recommendations, I looked for Fender 9050, but couldn't find any.

I thought the EB would be similar, but the growl is rather absent.

Is it worth trying the Fenders or will it be more of the same?

EB Cobalt Flats and Fender 9050 Flats are very different in both tone and feel. The Cobalts are brighter and more roundwound-like in their tonal character, while the Fender 9050s are more flatwound in their tonal character with a unique midrange grind and growl.

2814, modern roundwound like tone compare to Vintage-Modern 9050.
The set on my bacchus j almost 2 years old, but overall output and tone still sound healthy and the E string dint sound dull or dead.



Above clip direct record from Ampeg Rb112 which sound a bit vintage side. I believe sound get more nail to modern side via Hartke amp.

This ^ And if I may add to that:
1) the 9050 flats will gently mellow over time, while still retaining their character;
2) in my experience, the Cobalts had that brightness and clank, until one day they were just dead. No mellowing in the meantime.

I just checked the pricing on amazon.ca. $45.10 CAD for a set of 9050L is a very good deal, considering it includes free delivery in Canada!
