Hi all,


Just wanted to give a massive thanks & praise for exceptional customer service from Tom at Cog Effects .... :)



I recently bought a used Grand Tarkin of a fellow BCer but it quickly developed a fault then stopped working all together .. I contacted Tom & he said he'd 'sort it' for me even though I didn't buy it either new or direct from Cog .. not only did he indeed sort it but replaced the pcb & then posted it back to me .. all free of charge ! Didn't even ask for postage, how's that for customer service !!!



Slight 'disclaimer' .. I've emailed Tom many times before regarding custom builds or general effect advice but never actually bought anything (as yet coz I'm always scint) but I did send him a copy of all my Star Wars audio books which probably put me in credit lol :)

I've got a Cog Grand Tarkin and a T-65, along with another secret pedal en route, and I am in absolute LOVE with these effects. I thought I had played some excellent muffs before hand, but the Tarkin truly slays all others. The T-65 is the best octaver I've used as well, and I've tried a bunch of those as well. Impressive work, and the graphics are top notch as well. Sounds like customer service can't be beat either, which matches my impressions from communication with him around my recent order.

I think it may be time to start thinking about a Cog custom multi-effect pedal...

Ok! It's official. Now I'm tottally GASing for one of these.

"The LPF and HPF switches adjust the corner frequencies of the filters that make up the Tone control, allowing you to add low- and high-mids respectively. These controls help cut through a live mix and give you the option to add more punch to your fuzz sound. As you would expect, these switches interact with the Tone knob, so experimentation is highly encouraged.

Inside you'll find switches to adjust the two clipping stages. In position 1, the clipping is smoother, and in position 2 the clipping has more bite. You can also remove the clipping diodes from either stage using these switches."

I'm being drawn to the COG side of the Force!!!

I have recently taken delivery of one of the new, mini Tarkins. It is really impressive, and I can only echo what everyone has said about Tom and COG here...

the new Tarkin has at least as much bass / lows as my W&C Tall Font Russian. It can do a green Russian or NYC Russian, or colorsound tones if you take out the first clipping stage, and the tone control with the two mids switches give you a lot of options. I need to spend a couple of hours locked away in the practice room as there are so many sounds in this thing, I need to work out what combination of EQ options and diodes I prefer! :)

I don't have anything from COG... yet... but just in emailing back and forth with Tom about pedal options and things, I see that he's keen on helping the customer out and taking care of his orders and all that good stuff. I look forward to doing business with the guy in the future!
