When I was a kid, we never locked the house and left keys in the ignition of anything that had an ignition key. When I went to college, it was in a city on the east coast. It was a very different kind of place, and there were locks on just about everything. It's just a location thing, I guess.

Oh, as a college graduate, I wouldn't say that. Many people who get degrees, and even those who go on to get graduate degrees, go on to commit all kinds of fraud and other heinous crimes.

You'd think maybe the people chosen to enter the noble professions could be trusted to not cheat their way through, but no. The med school where I teach goes to draconian measures during exams to prevent cheating. Video surveillance, restroom monitors, exam answer analysis, whatever it takes. These are super bright students who can and do exploit any crack in the armor.
