What sort of program is this, a summer session? When I was in college (en route to a degree in anything but music), I took bass lessons for credit, and it was a great benefit to my playing. Also, joining college groups like jazz band or whatever, depending on your musical tastes, are great learning opportunities.

Edit: Oh, I see it's online. Hmmm. That seems iffy. I wonder if anything replaces a flesh and blood teacher.

How do you get feedback?

You can have Paul McCartney teach you bass for the price of a cd. Etc, etc.. If you're looking to make money playing, you got to play. No body is going to care about credit hours or degrees.

$1000 would pay for a lot of private lessons from a top notch teacher.

Had a conversation with a bassist from the area that had just finished his Masters in Bass Performance. He asked if I had a music degree and I said no, but "I've taken a couple theory classes here and there, and just played a lot of gigs."

He shrugged and said "Eh, same thing."
