Combining 2 2x12 cabs?

No problem at all. The Ox used four of them.

WHAT???!!??:confused: Sorry is plan crazy. Man I ran 2 SWR Goliath 410 cabs together never ever herd of something like that happening and never had anything happen no matter how long i played them together... whether it be 10 min's or 4 hours!!..no matter what combo i have ran thats never happened and i dont think it ever will!!.....these cab are designed to run together who ever told you that must also believe that the world it flat or any other myths like that. Just look at all the pros that run to same cabs together.....if it were to blow up with it hour or so of playing them i dont thing they would be using them now would they!!...sorry this kinda makes me laugh!!

Nah it wouldn't sound the same- it would sound better, go deeper, be fuller, make you poop yourself!! :hyper::hyper: ALL FOR JUST FRACTIONS OF TEH COST!? IMAGINE!?

If The Ox were alive no DOUBT, no DOUBT he'd be rocking 2, MAYBE 3 freefull's. :hyper::hyper:

Hey Canadianeh, I think Rockstarbassist was joking when he wrote that, LOL.

Anyway, I have two 2x12 cabs for the big rooms without mains support. Something magic happens when you set that second cab on top of the first one. It's a whole 'nother ball game, much more than simply an increase in volume. That usually applies to stacking any two identical cabs.

As long as the total impedance of the two cabs matches the output impedance of the amp, and if the speakers can handle the power delivered to them, then there would not be any technical issues in using a pair of 2x12 cabs or any pair of cabs. It would certainly be best to stack the pair of cabs vertically for optimal dispersion of sound waves. Regarding tone, use your ears. Pros and cons? One man's pro is another man's con. If you have specific 2x12 cabs to discuss, then the TalkBass community could chime in a bit on possible pros and cons. Pros and cons will vary depending on volume needs, taste, style of music, price range, desired cab weight limit, etc.

Speaker diameter alone has little if anything to do with volume and tone, though smaller speakers generally tend to have better transient peak response and articulate notes while larger diameter speakers have longer displacement distance for better or worse..... depending on style and taste....YMMV, etc.

Bass frequency induced poopy pants sounds funny, but I think Mythbusters busted the brown sound myth.

very true... i've lost so many cabs this way.. i didnt know it until i did a search here in TB..

I actually am looking for a second Mesa PH212 to add to mine. One is /win, but two are /ftw. I used to have a PH412, so I know! :D

I remember that epi. And they weren't using a freefull with only 100W going through it. If so, it'd have happened. :hyper:

I just posted in another thread how I used my two GB Neox 212T cabs, stacked as 4x12's vertical. Ran em with my little GB NeoPak 3.5 (* 2 ohm modded).

Man, no PA support for me, ever. I only use 5 string basses and this setup rocked the machine shop they had us in. Was a company Christmas party for abuncha drunk machinists. I've been leaning more to my Epifani UL410-II and pre/pwer amp rig but I took the Genz rig out just cause it'd been awhile.

Gonna use it more often, maybe with the 1500 watt pre/pwer amp setup to push them cabs abit more. I liked my tall, narrow stack and that I had a cab up close to my ears and flappin my pants, was nice. Just took delivery of a second TC-E RS210 cab today, run those two with Markbass F1. WOW, mini stack from HELL!

So, Stack em I say and Stack em High, Brother!!!! :bassist:

LOL I am sorry then if i did come off a bit strong...just i have seen people on here really be serious about stiff like that and it is very laughable thats why when he said it i was like What??? but all good!! :)
