Combo: Light, Deep & Loud

Just pulled the trigger. Ordered a new Shuttle 6.0 12T combo for $895 shipped/new. It should be here in 2-3 days.

In the end, while the GK is likely a good purchase for many, the QC issues were just too much for me. While I'm not a professional musician, I am a musician that is a professional. As such, I demand that my gear be solid. It seems the likelihood that I would have some sort of issue with one of these given enough time.

I sent both GK and GB emails asking a few questions a day or so ago. I've still not heard back from GK. The owner of GB responded to me yesterday morning. I love the personal touch and the excellent customer service.

+ one. I had a question once and called the company and Jeff Genzler answered the phone. With agedhorse and Hasbeen on these forums you will always get some answers to any questions.

I'm in the market for a small combo.

My main rig is a GenzBenz Shuttle 9.0 with the GB Neo 212 cab. I have the Shuttle racked with my wireless unit and a powerstrip.

While this rig is light as rigs go and has been plenty for any gigs I've played (bars, outside parties, and festivals), I'm looking for something to supplement this. I'd like a small combo that can be easily carried in one hand with my bass on my shoulder and a free hand to open the door.

I'm leaning towards the Shuttle 6.0 112 combo as I'm a lover of GB stuff. I've not tried this combo though, so I guess I would be taking a risk. I've heard good things about the Mesa Walkabout combo as well. I want something that will go deep, provide adequate stage volume for smaller gigs/rehearsal, and weigh ~40lbs or less.

Suggestions? I'd rather buy once, so price is less of a factor since I've got gig money to pay for it.

The Mesa Walkabout combo is a fantastic amp - also checkout the GK MB combo amps.

Got the amp today. Gave it a quick run through. I think it will be fine for my needs but we'll see. We're rehearsing on Sunday. Our next gigs where I would consider using it are the two that we have Halloween weekend.

You don't sound over-enthusiastic..! Hope it works out nicely and the gigs go well. I looked briefly for Genz Benz amps in the UK but they seem to be a lot more expensive over here than in the US, and hard to find second hand :hmm:

I'm glad to hear that I don't sound that way. I think many musicians that post online about gear tend to gush too much when they get new gear just because it's new and exciting. I try not to do that.

As far as the combo goes, it does not walk on water nor will it cure cancer, but it will definitely meet my needs as far as rehearsal and smaller gigs. The amp is nothing "new" as I own a Shuttle 9.0, a 212 Neo and a 112 Neo. I've also owned the GBE-600 and a Neopak. I'm hardcord GB. It's a solid product with excellent customer support.
