Yes! I hear that one so much. I never understood when people say it, do you not realize what you're saying?
Shout out to a fellow puckstopper! notice the smileyface and fact I misspelled 'smarter'....
I had someone who disagreed with something I was about do say: "Well, shoot yourself...'
(instead of 'suit yourself')
Pet peeve, and I'm sure it's just one of those "common usage" nasty things but 'dove' - as in, "he dove into the pool."

I use "awesome" all the time BECAUSE I know it just isn't.

My girl famously says "Six-in-one, half-dozen of the other." I've tried to correct her but she's not having it.
More a dialect thing than a misusage, but I notice in parts of the U.S. they drop the "to be" in a sentence like the following:
"My amp needs [to be] fixed."
Comes out in certain parts of the country as, "my amp needs fixed."
"My amp needs [to be] fixed."

I can't stand to hear someone refer to their dresser as "chester drawers". It's "chest of drawers".
I used to spend alot of time on a BB for goalies and I used see alot common sayings that people just got wrong. I don't see that as often here because bass players are sooo much smater than the average goaltender
Here is my favorite....
On fellow was discussing how he (a sophmore) took a starting position away from a senior on some college team (I forget where). He stated - Like my Dad used to say 'It's a doggie dog world out there'. My reply to him was that a 'doggie dog world' sounded pretty nice as most everyone loves dogs....
Anybody see similar misconstrued sayings?

If his dad was into early 90's hip hop, Snoop's "It's a Doggie Dogg World" saying is kinda correct...
"have your cake and eat it too". That makes no sense whatsoever. Now, eat your cake and have it too--that's an accomplishment!
This is closer to how we'd pronounce this in New Zealand, rather than how it's spelt.
One that really gets me, and I hear quite often, is "over-exaggerate"
