Comp into flanger for vol drop boost ?

How do you guys compensate with the (perceived) volume drop with some flangers ?
Would a compressor before and/or after help or would a boost be better ?
I really like my Moog MF Flange so don't really want to change & a boost would unfortunately also boost my MF Delay in same chain. I engage / disengage both pedals at the same time but sometimes just need the flanger without delay hence the question re compressor.
I don't have a comp at the moment so can't test but am seriously considering the SA Atlas as I can have before & after …

Are you referring to the pulsating low end that happens with the frequency/rate of the flange effect? Low end sounds wobbly at faster rates? That's from phase cancellation, and the best solution is a flanger that is highpassed so it does not affect the low frequencies.

If your flanger results in an overall drop in volume, perceived or not, then a boost pedal would be better than a compressor.

Here's all you need. This pedal bumps up both bass and volume quite considerably.

For envelope filters I put an OD before to really open it up and a compressor after to reign in the huge volume boost. For a flanger, I'd get one that has a volume knob.

I could be wrong, but you might have more a buffer/impedance issue going on. Just a possibility.

I use a flange with a volume setting: TC-SCF on bass.

Although on guitar I like the electric mistress variants which the Retrosonic Flanger has a volume knob, but inexpensive knock offs don't (mooer elec lady) nor do the originals.

A compressor before will increase volume and somewhat trim the edges of the signal that the flanger will be responding to which may subdue the effect. After the flanger, you're having the flanged signal boosted but also compressing the effect. Both ways sound different achieving the same goal.

Try adjusting the drive and output. I have the 12 stage phaser and have no issues with volume or bass drop.
