Hi! My first forum tread ever, and English is not my native language. So sorry if i am breaking any rules.

I am looking for a solution for home audio. Music listening, movies, gaming as well as practicing and recording bass guitar in a rom of only 15m2.

I own a Squier ss Jaguar, ebs microbass 3 and a Focusrite2i2. (and Audio Technica ATH-M50X)

Any thoughts?

It's hard to know what to suggest here as the question isn't clear.

With what you have here you should be able to practice into your headphones and record reasonable bass tracks into a DAW (digital audio workstation). You may be looking for opinions on a DAW. Reaper is a high quality affordable DAW with a lot of good tutorials on the web, so I'd suggest starting there (Audacity and Garage Band are free options).

I don't know what you mean by music listening, movies, and gaming so I don't think I can help there. Possibly you are looking for a set of monitors?

As previous poster mentioned, you already have headphones so maybe a set of monitors. I use a set of Yamaha HS5...good for basic listening and practicing. But, for gaming, you may need to add a sub since the HS5 start rolling off at 54 Hz.

Thank you for replying. I have not tried Reaper or Garage Band. I am trying to learn to use Abelton. I see now that the question was unclear. I meant sound in the room. Outside the headset. I think i am looking for a set of monitors. HS5 or Rokit5 maybe.

The budget is kind of what it needs to be. I do not have unlimited funds, but like decent quality. Compared to the rest of the gear, what should the budget be? 3-500$? Maybe 1000$? I just upgraded the bass with a new bridge and pickups, and i like it. But it is still a sub 500$ bass. I guess it would make more sense to spend ekstra on a new bass than 5000$ on speakers. Another budget is space. 15m2 or less than 50sq.ft is a small rom.

Buy one set of relatively inexpensive but very good nearfield monitors like Focal Alpha 50, Yamaha HS, JBL LSR, Adam T series etc. Whatever you like, they are all very very good for the money. 300,- - 500,-.

Spend at least 200,- on room treatment. Don't buy cheap foam, buy Basotect or Rockwool. Read some stuff about speaker placement (very close to a wall in small rooms or at least 2 meters away from the wall behind in larger rooms), but further on their placement in relation to windows or mirrors and to the narrow and larger walls of your room. Don't buy expensive stuff while ignoring all the other parameters of a decent sounding environment.
Cheap speakers in a well treated room at the right place will sound 100 times more accurate and better than 5.000,- speakers in your bathroom.

Do you have "some stuff" to recommend?

The thing is that it is a tiny rom that will be used for everything except bathroom and sleeping room. In this case i do not have many parameters to tweak. Monitors will have to go on my desk or on the wall. This i guess means front-ported is the only option?

The only viable room treatment seams to be the ceiling. I will look in to foam absorbents.

I am thinking ADAM A3X on wall mounts and a KRK 8S2 on the floor. Can this work?

The most important aspect for me: if you can't have at least a distance of more than 2 meters away from the walls BEHIND the speakers, put them as close to the wall as possible (< 0.8 meters) and use absorbing material behind the speakers. Foam works somehow, but Basotec is much better.

I made the terrible mistake of hooking a pair of Neumann KH 120 A to my desktop computer (which doubles as TV since I don't own one). At first it was fun to play music and notice the smallest details in there because of the stellar resolution. Neflix also was a blast. A few weeks in, I got used to the sound.
I dialed back on the bass on my home stereo.
Then suddenly, being in other people's place and watching TV and listening to their means of audio amplification was less enjoyable. The sound was always off. Always muffled, lacking definition and some frequencies were too strong or too weak. The pure flat response of a studio monitor can be quite addictive.

I don't know if the Neumann ones fit your budget, but I've heard some good Yamahas and JBLs in the $500/pair region.
