Double Bass Comparing sound of old Clarus new Clarus.

Did you notice sonic differences between the older version of the clarus and the new series?

No. I have the Focus 2 version of each. The only difference I notice is that in order to get my normal sound, I need to adjust 4 bands of EQ on the older one and three on the newer one. other than that, they sound the same to me.

Thats mean they sounds different when the EQ is flat?

It means they sound the same when flat. I just don't run them flat most of the time.

I've owned the first version of the clarus and a series 3 focus. I felt that the sound was slightly different - the clarus being a bit more open and rich sounding - possibly due to the different input impedance.

I see. But since you need to adjust a bit more on the EQ of the older one, we can say the EQ is more effecient at the new Clarus?

Not more efficient per se, just different. I liked the features on the newer Focus 2R series III, so I bought one and relegated the older one as my backup. Since I use a mic most of the time in addition to a pickup, the new features were worth it to me.
