Concertgebouw certainly is one of the pure 1st rate orchestra in the world.They don't play gramma, grampa's "Pop's" concerts.Or do they sell out to what's going to "bring in the crowd" crap that US orchestras are doing more and more with the exception of Philly,chicago,cleveland,new york.Jee,even the mighty Boston does Pops.So everything is 1st class in amsterdam,except the pay(compare to cost of living;it's a little like the New york phil)glamarous on the outside BUT........

Sunba dude!(or dudette?), Spacecakes are those hash brownies they cook up in Holland, I never touch the stuff myself but I hear they cause muchies.
I like what you wrote in. The pay apparently does suck but of course the gig makes up for it.

The finalists were David Sheets from USA (also finalist last time), Max Zeugner from UK, and Jeffrey Beecher from Canada.

Max was in the finals? Wow... I knew that he could sound really good, but wow! He's an American - he grew up in Boston and went to Juilliard; I think he graduated in 2005, then got a job somewhere in northern England.

Soooo, are they doing it again? Maybe trial weeks for the three American finalists? The last thing the business needs is more orchestras having audition after audition and not hiring anyone. I assume all of these guys who made the finals at these auditions are great players ...(DeKroon? Are you a member of the orchestra? )

I study with Jeff Beecher and Ed Tait at the University of Toronto...I'm hoping that my lessons will be a bit more regular now that the audition is over

I am not a member of the Concertgebouworkest but I do know for sure that the players I mentioned were the only people who were playing the final round. I am not aware of any of them being given "trial weeks."
