Hello all, I figured this is the most relevant sub-forum to post to. Apologies if not.
I have a set up in my head that I would like to achieve. Currently, I have a drum practice set up that includes live monitoring of drum mics. I'm doing this with a Focusrite 8PreX and an Focusrite Clarett OctoPre since they have a direct monitoring feature that makes things simple.
I need to be able to connect a Roland SPD-SX pad and monitor its output through my audio interface set up.
I do not want to use the Roland SPD-SX as a MIDI controller, I would just like to monitor the samples being played on the pad through my interface (along with my mics, etc.).
I'm relatively new to this kind of stuff, so I'm not 100% sure how to go about hooking this up. Any help from more knowledgeable TB members would be greatly appreciated!
Okay, so...
I would assume that I could use two instrument cables (1/4" TS) to go out of the L and R Master outs of the SPD-SX.
Can I then use those 1/4" TS cables to go directly into the line inputs of the interface?
Or would I need to run the 1/4" cables into a DI box first? Then from there, what cables do I need to connect to the audio interface (XLR to TRS 1/4")?
Hopefully this is sufficient information, but if not, I can provide a ton more
Thanks everyone
