Considering options...

I am trying to build a board all at once with a lot of pieces that I have not heard or used in person. I am getting ahead of myself and I am confident that will end badly, or at least expensively.

This is what I have:

Sonic Research Tuner
Duncan Studio Bass Compressor
MXR Phaser
Behringer Octaver
Laney Digbeth Preamp

The obvious missing piece for what I want to do is a DI for the dry feed. I need to make that decision, add it and evaluate what is next. The PDI requires no power, can be put under the board, has a second thru and is less expensive. The Finally has tubes, resembles things like the Nobel quite a bit sonically from the samples I have heard and I would expect brings more color to the mix than the passive DI. This choice needs to be made and evaluated before I go any further.

The PDI holds an advantage in practical considerations... The Finally, on paper at least, seems to have the advantage sonically. Damn shame I just can't throw money at such 1st world problems...

Comparing the PDI to the Finally is probably not a fair fight. The PDI is very much the traditional, passive DI. The Finally is a preamp with a DI included. That is what the Nobel, P15 and others are as well but their application is almost exclusively as a DI so I suppose it makes sense to compare them on that basis

The Super Vintage on the other hand is closer to an Amp/cab sim with a DI out option that includes the simulation. In this sense, its a different animal than typical preamps

So I did something very similar.

2 signals: one clean/one with fx
I send my channels to two different preamps for the amp/cab sound after each loop.

my clean signal goes
Bass-> compressor -> eq/boost -> Super Vintage.
Dirty signal goes
Bass-> compressor -> eq/boost -> Octave -> Synth -> overdrive -> Darkglass Adam.

If I want I can sum the channels into the clean output and both will go in parallel out to the super vintage. Then if I want I can hook up the Adam afterwards for headphone monitoring.

I can be a lot more detailed, but if you have any question, let me know!

Yep. I wound up getting two mixes sent to front of house separately. Then I can send a signal to my amp without the preamps effecting it. Then if we want I can mix my actual amp up for some different sounds.

Have you bothered to ask @Sushi Box FX for some input on his pedal achieving the desired tone? I find that he's very good at answering these kinds of questions and always willing to discuss what his pedals can and can't do, and might even point you in the right direction.
