I am weeks away from finally sending in my deposit for one of Vadim's basses. I'm excited and scared at the same time :rollno: It's hard to committ sometimes...I can't really explain it. But I've been gassing for one of his basses for a while, and my sonic and visual tastes are finally narrowing down. I've decided to totally drop my initial idea of all walnut with active pre and wooden laminates up the wazoo, and instead am going for something more subtle but sexy.

The specs so far:
2 piece Ash body (with sick figure like burl or curly)
34" scale
5 piece maple/wenge stringers
Lined Maccassar Ebony fingerboard (walnut or mahogany lines)
set neck option
Tight spacing - 17mm
Oil finish over Antique burst
Gold hardware
Totally passive (probably V/B/T config., but I am also considering V/V/T so that I can do a coil tap on both PU for different sounds)

I think this is going to get me where I want to go tonally - lots of punch, aggresive, growly, dry/woody tone, with a direct focused low end. This is going to be the first bass Vadim has ever made with Ash:hyper: He has quite a bit of basses to make before mine, thanks to John's help as his distrubutor in the US, so you guys won't see any updates till the end of this year; but I'll keep you posted.

Anyways, please check out Edel's bass at her website. It looks ridiculously good :bassist:

If anybody is considering a custom bass, seriously consider Vadim - especially now while his prices are low!

Hey so did this bass ever get build??

Wow, I completely forgot to check back with this thread....oops :scowl:
My plans to order the bass were destroyed since I got cut hours at work and my wife and I (full time students), just barely got by financially. I bought an M-bass last year for a ridiculously low price which has subsided my GAS for the meantime...
