It does make a difference: There is more sustain and the bass becomes more vibrant, more alive, there are more harmonics, the flageolets are louder but it's a hell of a job to mute the strings. This bass has become so bloody alive that it almost plays itself!

I have a nice bass (harley benton MB-4) that has fairly poor string isolation. Not sure if that's the correct term
Does this logic make sense? I'm also considering a high mass bridge I have lying around, but it would change the look, so I'm interested in string-through.
