Check out this band out of Australia. Especially the bass tone at 2:14. Wonder how to get a sound similar to that. The whole band seems very King Crimson influenced.

The hard plastic pick makes 75% of the bass sound IMO. I can get that from a standard p bass with nickel rounds.
