No need to do this. There are a lot of well known players who are unknown to TBers, despite their lineage. You might think it's sacrilegious not to know them, but if hasn't been in their experience, you can't fault them. Education is the key here. There is no TB rule saying you have to label the photo, but help a bro out. And in Rocco's case (RIP) You'd also be doing your part to continuing his legacy. "Sacrilegious" is a bit much.
I met Rocco, and he was gracious & humble; he probably would have laughed at not being recognized on "TalkBass".

Looking through this thread, there are many pics of both older and current rawkers who I do not recognize. IF
I cared, I suppose I might reply to the OP asking about who the player was and what they did.
The 1st reply to the Rocco pic asking about Chuck Norris was either snark or ignorance, not sure.
The 2nd reply is now gone, as is my reaction, probably for the best.

lol…I shoke his hand once when he came onstage checking his gear when TOP played a company function. He was so unassuming and humble.
Not everyone is vigilant about posting names to photos, I agree, but hey we can only take care of our own. I noticed you were new to TB and may not be hip to the humor around here. You're right in that it could be snark or an attempt to be funny. But don't always assume the worst. Life's too short for the stress and there are a lot of great people on here. Respond with a funny poke yourself. Just my two cents in being here 8 years.

Btw, thanks for the Rocco link you posted. That'll come in handy.

Remember?? Now I am new to joining/posting on TB, but I've been reading for awhile, and I'm aware at some of the styles of as the Brits say- "Humour."

And IMO, some of the only common ground here is that "we" play either 4-5-6 or more stringed lower-register instruments

Musical tastes cover a wide range, from Anthony Jackson to Lemmy and all between. So do the senses of humour, apparently.

Here's a brief Rocco story, and one reason why he was a Champ:

There used to be a small Jazz/Fusion club in LA called "La Vee Lee", small room featuring various artists inc. Marco Mendoza, Pancho Sanchez, and others.

So my wife told me she passed by there and saw a sign that said "THURSDAY- Rocco Prestia"

I didn't understand, not the room for TOP.

I went, there was a 5-piece Guitar, Bass-Drums-Keys-Sax that performed, very good, but no Rocco.

3 songs in, they announce a "special guest" and RP takes over on Bass.

He played a "A Real Mother For Ya" by Johny Guitar Watson, and proceeded to raise the level of output from that Rhythm section by about 1500%
I sat there screaming: "Oh yeahhhh, in the mother&**&&% POCKET!"

At breaktime I went to introduce myself and heap praise on him, and you would not find a more humble, COOLER guy.

If I had 1/10th his chops (well, maybe I do) I admit, I might be very arrogant. He wasn't.

So that is my Rocco story, and for those who don't know him- He's a good read.
