Cool Tone

Dude, he gave the answer ten seconds into the video. It's a Metal Zone. On top of that, he has really bad technique, so most of that clank you hear is him hitting the strings against the frets. I could only put up with about 20 seconds of his playing and tone, personally.

Hitting the strings against the frets is bad technique? Tell that to John Entwistle, Geezer Butler and Geddy Lee. :scowl: This guy isn't particularly good, but still.

Personally I think that sort of thing sounds better with pick rather then fingers. Unless its done with John entwistle skill for fingers. Lol. The clank etc does help it sound better in the mix for the music type. I dont create mine so much from clank against frets. Is just little bit of that combined with little boost at 6khz area combined with roundwounds like rotosound 66 and active preamps hz tone tweak. The latter would help the esp ltd b50 guy in utube is useing imo. For fuller sound. Course then he'd haveta learn little bit lighter and more precise touch for finger playing. Ooops john entwistle technique. Lol. I'd also suggest he lean the pup balance more toward the neck pup.

His techniques not bad, but would improve if he used headphones rather then trying to play along thru bass rig to home stereo. The basses mix level is so high compared to the rest of the music its messing up his timing and focus imo.
