So basically I'm taking it to someone to take a look over it and put it into proper setting for me?
Yes, They'll adjust the intonation, which is making sure that the string plays in pitch all the way up the neck. There is an adjustment on the bridge for that. If you change the guage of strings, you'll need to re adjust that.
They'll also adjust the truss rod. That is a device in the neck that compensates for the pull of the strings on the neck. Again, changing gauge and brand of strings will affect this, and will cause it to need to be re adjusted. You may find that the truss rod needs a little adjustment during the corse of the year as the climate changes too. Wood will swell and shrink a little with changes in humidity.
They will also set the actioin, which is the hight of the strings above the frets. Standard set up is about 3/32" at the 12th fret.
All of these together will make the instrument play in tune, and easy to play.
Again, all of this will change if you change your guage , and even brand of strings.
Find a string that you like, and stick with them in order to cut down on the need to adjust the set up.
They'll probably adjust the hight of the pickup(s) as well.
