Cort Artisan Space 5

I could not see it was headless in the video or I did not look hard enough. The location of the two Bartolini pickups made me think MTD 535.

Certainly on my radar as lightweight back-up! I've been checking the reviews. The pickups are MK1's with the typical lackluster proprietary preamp. I have the same harness on my Soundgear 755 (2012?) although I have no clue as to whether there has been revisions or improvements. I have an OBP-3 on order for mine but will stick with the stock pickups...for now. Normally, I wouldn't drop coin on a mid-tier bass but the 755 feels so nice and plays like a champ. More to come!

The MK-1 pickups are fine. A preamp upgrade is necessary. As for the bass.....think Lakland Skyline level. I love my Cort but the stock electronics had to go.

I have nothing to say about the bass. I'm just here for the Nathan Navarro short. That dude can make any bass sound like a million dollar bass. And he plays all kinds of basses on his channel from budget to boutique.

I know the Bartolini MK-1s and the preamps used with them get a lukewarm reception here on TalkBass, but I once had an Ibanez Soundgear 5-string (neck-through version) with the MK-1s and Ibanez's proprietary preamp (which everyone here says is meh) and it growled like an absolute beast with the DR Fat Beams the previous owner had on it.

I play one from some who one wanna let go several weeks ago.... DG string sound quite thin compare to BEA even pickup height adjusted, maybe stock string matter........ But she has nice neck profile, flat fretboard, light weight and unique look.

Nathan Navarro is a terrible person for bass reviews because he blows you away with his licks which results is unrealistic expectations for bass’ tone.

That said, I love his videos because of his incredible playing.😉

Looks like they’re going after the strandberg buyer but with a less drastic body. +1 on the lackluster OEM electrics. But slip a pair of Nordstrands in there and it’ll make the electrics viable.

It has a push-pull volume control for passive/active :)

I based what I said on the specs listed on the Cort site. I’ve never seen or touched one. So I definitely don’t know!
