So i have a phrase i wanna double up on a synth in logic, i want to write the phrase into sibelius, but can't quite notate the rhythm properly, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Above is a link to the phrase, all you hear is one bar at 73 bpm, and it's only the second half of the phrase from beat 2 on i want to transcribe! The distorted bass bassically!

Sounds like 6 16th's starting 1 16th after beat 3 ending in a 8th, that extends into the next bar. If you'd loop it that last part of the final not should reach onto the first not fuzzy note. If I'm right this sample contains just one 16th to many to be a 4/4 bar.

The chords sound like Bbmi7 to Ami7.

    Bbmi7: Bb, Db, Ab
    Ami7: A, C, G

    The single notes:
    Bb, E, E; A, D, D ,D

    Do you need the rhythm?

    To me it sounds like:
Ami7: quarter note starting at the 1
8th note rest to start beat 2
    Bm7: 8th note to finish beat 2
16th note rest to start beat 3
    All the rest 16th notes

You can hear the metronome click on beat one1/16 before the A quarternote. And the last note sounds like it is meant to be longer than the 16ths before, but it would also fit as a accented 16th

I think you're analyzing too hard, the playing is just a little off the beat a tiny bit. It loops just fine in 4/4.

Also, I'm hearing some different notes in there than gmahoog. Here's my transcription of the whole bar..

Maybe, it needs to be quantized?

Could be I'm making this to complicated, but the op has a problem transcribing the rhytm in the second half of the measure, not the notes. (I think he played this himself, so he should know the notes) if they were just 7 16th notes straight there would not be much of a problem transcribing. Besides those first two double notes sound way cooler off the beat.

Thanks for all your replies, i see my post was a little confusing, let me try and divulge some more!

It is me playing, i know the pitches, it's the rhythm i'm after! The first two chords you heard were Bbm7 to Am7, the kick in (the distorted bass) was the rhythm i'm trying to notate it happens around beat 3 and 4 in the first audio clip i posted, i then becomes part of the main riff which is what i have linked to underneath, in the hope it might let you understand the phrasing a little better.

I've already notated the first half of the riff you'll hear in the link below.. attached should be a screenshot!

Again thanks for all the help, i'm only new to dots and still trying to get my head around it!

I'd say that the rhythm Matthijs has written is correct with the exception that the Bbm7 is just a quarter note in duration and then there is an eighth note rest before the Am7 chord
