Covert a P-Bass to Active? Help!!!!

I think you could set up two separate pick guards, one original and one Active, to meet your needs. What is it going to cost to do something like that? I use an Aguilar Tone Hammer and it is a pretty cool out board pre. Do you use a pedal board? If so, bend over make your change and back to it, never missing a beat. A better solution, however, considering what you are going to spend, might be to buy a Fender Deluxe PJ. Mexican made. Active electronics. Search for a good one and you're good to go for probably not much more than you would have spent...Good luck.

Someone may have already suggested this but if the main problem is not wanting to route out for a battery box, why not run your battery leads under the pick guard and velcro-mount a battery bag on the back of the bass or on your strap. I have thought about trying this myself if I decide to go active.

That is an interesting idea. If you do that, it would be awesome if you started a thread and let us know how that turned out!!!

Consider a pedal like the EWS Tri bass II pedal. It will tell you whether you like the active sound without hacking your 74.
