crate 115watt cut wire.

i was messing around with my crate 115watt last night and i saw where someone cut the red wire and put it back together with a clamp. it has been eating at my mind why they would do it. :eyebrow: and i read where someone touched coils on a amp and it made his squeel like a pig. what happens if i touch the silver box on the back of the amp i sat there for 10 minutes trying to touch it but everytime i got close i remember the article where the guy touched the thing and it made him cry.:hiding:

Hmmmm.. Interesting question - a little hard to decypher - but I'll try.

The red wire that's cut - you'll prolly have to post a pix since I bet there are several red wires in your amp/head that could be cut.

Now - onto 'touching coils'.

I too might squeal like a little girl if I touched, oh - say, the capacitor legs if they were charged.

For you're enlightenment - I bet there isn't likely any way that you can find something to touch that will spin your eyeballs, make smoke come outta your ears or make you see fireballs in the room if the amp has an acceptance code on it from UL or the Canadian equivalent agency - we DO live in lawyer land, ya know?

Now - if certain plates and/or shields are removed or you have the guts of your amp spread out on the kitchen table while it's plugged in - then all bets are off.

I'm not certifying that you won't get zapped - but the chances of the International Space Station falling and hitting you at midnight are higher than getting blasted by your amp.

As usual for the lawyers out there: YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY, AND THIS IS NOT A LICENSE NOR A SUGGESTION THAT YOU ACTUALLY PUT ANY BODILY APPENDAGE INTO ANYTHING FOREIGN.
